Claude for Small Business: What It Is and Where to Start

Claude for Small Business: What It Is and Where to Start

Claude for small business is two things: the Claude app any owner can buy, and a plugin from Anthropic that adds ready-made workflows for running a company. You connect tools like QuickBooks and HubSpot, turn on the jobs you want, and approve what Claude prepares. You don't need to code. This page is part of my Claude use cases by role.

Claude for Small Business is Anthropic's package of connectors and ready-to-run workflows for owners, used inside Claude Cowork. It closes the books, drafts proposals, answers leads and writes a Monday brief. You run it on a paid Claude plan, from $20 a month. By default, nothing sends or pays until you approve it.

I run four businesses and use Claude every week. The product facts below come from Anthropic's small business page, launch post and pricing page, checked on November 5, 2026. Anthropic changes these often, so check the sources before you buy.

  • Canva logoCanva
Some of the tools Claude for Small Business connects to

Anthropic's page lists four jobs:

  • Running the business. Claude can close the books, forecast cash, prepare payroll and write reports. It gets everything ready and you sign off.
  • Following through. Set a task up once and it runs on your schedule: follow-ups, overdue invoices, reorders.
  • Growing the business. It can reply to a 9pm inquiry, draft a proposal and plan a two-week posting calendar, all waiting for your approval.
  • Working with your tools. Anthropic lists QuickBooks, HubSpot, Shopify, Stripe, Gusto, Canva and 25 more. If your tool isn't connected, workflows can also run from a spreadsheet or a forwarded email.

Setup has three steps. Connect your tools, install the Small Business plugin and pick what Claude handles, then approve what matters. You can start with one tool and add the rest later.

What it costs

Claude for Small Business isn't listed as a separate plan on Anthropic's pricing page. Anthropic's own advice is Pro for one person and Team for a business with more than one. Here's what the plans cost:

PlanPriceBest for
Free$0Trying chat and projects, with no Claude Code
Pro$20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearlyOne owner getting started
Max$100 a monthOne owner who hits Pro's limits, with 5x Pro usage
Ultra$200 a monthOne owner running long tasks, with 10x Pro usage each week
Team Standard$25 a seat a month, or $20 billed yearlyA team that wants shared admin and billing
Team Premium$125 a seat a month, or $100 billed yearlyHeavy users on a team, with 5x a Standard seat

The limit is usage. One Cowork task can run many steps, so it uses your limit faster than a chat. Anthropic says it doesn't train on your business data by default on Team and Enterprise plans.

My pick: start on Pro, even with a small team. Move to Team once you know which jobs are worth sharing with staff.

Five jobs to hand Claude first

Start with jobs you can check in two minutes, where nothing leaves your business until you say so.

Claude

your files, your tools and a plain-English request

  • Monday brief

cash, sales and the one thing that needs you

  • Invoice follow-up

who owes what, with drafted reminders

  • Proposals

from your call notes to a document you can send

  • New leads

a drafted reply with times you can actually meet

  • Month-end

your books checked and explained in plain English

Five first jobs for a small business. Claude prepares, you approve.

1. A Monday brief

> Every Monday at 6:30am: give me last week's sales, cash position, what's committed this week and the one thing that needs me today. Keep it short enough to read on my phone. Do not send it to anyone else.

2. Invoice follow-up

> Read the unpaid invoices export I attached. List who owes what and how late it is, oldest first. Draft a polite reminder for each one, firmer for anything over 30 days. Do not send.

3. Proposals

> Here are my notes from today's call: [paste notes]. Write a proposal using only the prices in my price list. If something isn't priced, list it as a question for me. Do not guess.

4. New lead replies

> Read my services file. Draft a reply to this inquiry that answers their question and offers two meeting times from my calendar. Keep it under 100 words. Save it as a draft.

5. Month-end check

> Compare this month's books against the Stripe export. Flag anything that doesn't match and explain the month in plain English so I can send it to my accountant.

Give it your business first

Claude's first draft is only as good as what it knows. Before you connect anything, put these in a Claude project or a folder:

  • What you sell: your services, your prices and what you don't do.
  • Who buys: your best customers and the questions they ask.
  • How you sound: three to five things you wrote that sound like you.
  • Your rules: what Claude must never promise, and what always needs your eye.

This is the step most owners skip, and it's the one I'd never skip. Without it, you get generic work and go back to doing it yourself.

The rules to set before you connect anything

Anthropic builds in some of this. Claude shows its plan before it acts, payroll is set up for you to submit, bills wait for your approval, and Claude doesn't file anything for you. Anthropic also says your existing permissions still apply, so Claude only sees what the connected account can see.

I'd add four rules of my own:

  1. Connect one tool first. Add the next when the first job works.
  2. Keep "do not send" in your prompts until you trust the job.
  3. Check every number that leaves the business. Your accountant still owns the books.
  4. Keep sensitive data out until you've read the terms. Check the trust center and your own legal duties, especially with customer, health or financial records.
