In today's video I am going to show you how to start your make scenarios and integrate air table using the web hook function because if you just use the air table function you will be limited with what you can actually do with how you pull your data in into your make scenario if you don't know what I'm talking about I'll explain it in just a second I'm going to show you exactly how to do this the best way possible let's dive

Right into it okay so what I'm actually talking about is just for example let's say if I wanted to start a make scenario with air table I wanted to bring in data if I wanted to do it based on when a record is updated it shows that I need the record ID all right so if you don't know what I'm talking about I'll quickly show you with air table if you're starting a scenario you really only have a few options you

Can watch watch records so returns newly created or updated records in a view now this works and this can work but this also requires a created time or a last modified time field and uh you can do it that way but there's a specific way I want to do this and I'm going to show you in just a second and this is a way that I typically like doing it and a lot of people will probably want to do it uh

This way too so um watch records so it triggers when a new record response is submitted this could be like a form or something um and then these are really not things that you would um they're not really things that like trigger based on updates you could do make an API call which performs an arbitrary authorized API call um but that's a little bit more complex right um and then let's go to air table Yeah there's these other ones here these

Are good typically what I use like middle scenario but for starting the scenario if I did watch records I could do this but like I said you need that date or Time Field um which can work but we're going to use a web hook for this example I'm going to show you what I mean in just a second so what the desired outcome we want is if I go here I want when I change this field to analyze right here I

Want to send this data over to make.com okay so way you're going to do that is you're going to go to automations all right next is you are going to well one you're going to create an automation here for this example what you're going to do is let's see I created an automation you're going to add a trigger for me it's when record matches condition right so let me delete this I'm going to show you so analyze hook so when record

Matches this condition table is hook condition is analyzed Hook is analyzed we are going to add a an action of running a custom script so you're going to click the script once you do that this isn't going to be here but this is what you're going to do so um you are going to edit the code and I'm going to give you the exact code that you're going to use okay so I will give you this code this will be in

The description and what you're going to want to do is this so I'm going to go to air table I'm going to go custom web so the start scenario just to show you from literally square one we're going to go to web hook custom web hook sadly yeah so okay here add so yeah air table does it have it it's not like as native as you would maybe want to integrate here but once you get this like understand this you have

The code you could easily do this anytime I use this all the time it's very very simple you don't need a how a code or anything like that you just copy and paste super super simple okay so I'm just going to call this short form hook analy an there we go save custom hook copy this you're going to copy that URL and you are going to paste your web hook URL right here all right so when I give you this code

It's just going to look like this with these two Comm uh quotations you're going to paste it in between the quotations boom that's one thing you're going to do second thing you're going to do is we're going to remove um so so let's just see here name okay basically what you're going to have is you won't have these two things here but you're going to want to add them so the way you do that is you're going to input uh add

Input variable right here and you're going to name this variable you're going to have pretty much any time you do this you're going to always want to keep these two record uh these two variables always within the code as well as in the varibles so those two things are record ID make sure it's capitalized the same as you have it here record ID and base record URL way you do this is you just literally paste like copy put that in here

So let's just say I did record URLs and then you go to value and you put base URL here so that's base URL and then value is uh for record ID is air table record ID boom simple simple simple always keep those two there because that's how you're going to be able to map it directly to your record ID and all that good stuff as well as your base URL if needed so third things are these are the variables that will

Change based on like when you're creating a web hook or an automation so this is what I use for a different one so I'm going to change these what I want to pull in is let's check the value so I want the hook so I put this hook um I will do the example example [Music] and let me think I don't know if I need this but I'm just going to pull it in uh to be safe typ and then I

Think that should be good yeah I think that's all I need if I need something else I can come back but then what I'm going to do is the name that goes here I'm literally going to Boom paste that here and paste that here so that's the hook example goes here and here and then type goes here and here so all this essentially is doing is it's running a code that is going to your web hook URL and it's passing this

Information within the UTM parameters of record ID that's the uh question mark then record ID the config for what it's going to send over is called record ID which is right here going to send that value so these this is the value that it's going to send the value value value value it's pulling the value right here from your air table and then this is what's going to this is how like the string is put together for the URL that's getting

Passed over into your web hook if that doesn't make sense don't worry you don't need to understand that all you need to know is what I just showed you before and you can literally do this anytime all right so finish editing now you'll see all your uh stuff right here that you all your variables um so for example let's just say if I go over to my data I'll do this later okay so I do have one on analyze now I'm

Going to go to automations so I'm going to run a test and let's go edit and let's make sure that I am going to run this wait what's empty here web hook ohow L it there we go okay save run okay oh scenario is already running there we go and let's go test run test grab this going to send it over and if everything went correctly we should get it right about three two one let's see here it's taking a bit

Longer there we go test ran successfully so we should get this in just a second and you'll see here with the test run successfully we got the script input which is all this stuff right here hook example there we go so yeah I'm took a little bit longer but usually it's very quick I have a lot of stuff open so there we go we got our data into air table from a web hook so we have the record ID we have

The base record uh URL we have the hook the example and the type which is null since I don't have a type so actually I didn't need a type um then you can go ahead and go and build out your scenario so um I'm not going to go ahead and build out the whole scenario right now maybe I'll show I'll give you a little sneak peek I'm not going to build it all out but just to give you guys some extra

Value what I'm going to do is let's go um make and or message an assistant and let's go to hook assistant you're going to want to go here um add file ID um wait what actually no I'm not adding any files right now if you did add files that's how you do it by the way um uh initially I was confused about how to add files to your assistant it would like I would run it I would have the file added

To my open AI chbt assistant within the playground of open AI um the assistant and it wouldn't pull them when I ran in make so that's how you actually do it you have to click on show Advanced and then either add the file ID or select the file um and then you also want to turn on either knowledge retrieval or code interpreter if you're using that here you can over write instructions if needed here you can select the model as of

Now unless there's basically of now the simplest way is gbg4 Turbo um with make unless I don't know if you know how to do the GPT 40 in a simple way let me know um I believe there's a new version of the a uh eight gpts so I know you could do it through like um custom API I believe uh if you ran like an arbitrary API like where is it make an API call yeah you could do it but um

Just within here I don't know an easy way to do it yet so I just use GPT for Turbo you could select thread ID you could do message um here I would actually just put the hook so there we go and then yeah it's actually quite an easy automation all I'm doing now is let me just add an air table so yeah just to come full circle you would do like if you wanted to update it so let's do update a

Record so up search we don't need to do UPS search this would be like if you wanted to create a new record if it's not there with that record with that stuff so we're going to update a record and very easy we're just going to go short form content and we're going to select a table which was or was it hooks and then we're going to put our record ID here that's why it's very important to always grab the record ID

Because that's how you reference it back into when you're actually like say you're pulling the data you're doing something with it or whatever then you want to reference back to that that same exact record this is how you do it right you put the record ID there you're always going to want to grab that base URL you don't really like I don't typically use too much but sometimes you may want to um I just so that I just keep it there

And then hook which is actually so we're just going to be what are we going to be doing um analyze hook type I don't even know if this will work if it doesn't it's not a big deal I'm going to have to if it doesn't then I'm going to have to do it a different way but let's just try it out the only reason I say it may not work is because it's a single drop down field so um I can't

Remember if it allows you to to do it it may okay did it work oh okay so I think it may have okay so it did um what one was that I actually forgot to do one thing I need to do this so first off I actually need to update um where is it there this should then go to complete so there we go I'm going to save this and let's see what one did I just do this is now I'm

Not saying copy here and you can see here it did it so I'm just going to change that to complete now um but yeah literally did it and put it into this field so essentially what it's doing is it's just analyzing the hook and categorizing it so yeah pretty simple automation um I have a little bit more little bit more complex not really but somewhat more advanced like GPT setup for it with the assistant it knows how to analyze it um

Yeah this is like one database within a table that I've been working on uh this is not like it's definitely not my most advanced one or whatever but it's definitely a really good one very powerful stuff is in here I'm not going to go over that in this video but I will be sharing more in future videos um as well as a lot more make automations a little bit more advanced ones as well as a lot more make tutorials I've been

Going super super hard on make this is like a very very powerful tool if you know how to use it like especially now with AI I've been using make since it was integrat like I've been using it probably for about five five six years but not like be where I was actually trying to become like a very very good with it um lately I've been going super super hard on it and uh yeah it's s you know that's what she said

But um but yeah uh no yeah so yeah it's just really powerful if you haven't been using it definitely check it out it's basically an alternative of zapier and air table is like crazy uh Google Sheets on steroids super super powerful and yeah so at the end of the day what you should have learned from this video is how to use web hookes with air TBL so you can send the data over into make and two I mean you got a
