How To Set Up GPT Zapier Custom Actions [NEW!] 🤖 ChatGPT Full Tutorial

All right what's going on everybody Josh pook here in today's video we're going to be talking about zapier AI actions within your new gpts this is a highly requested one let's get right into [Music] it all right so let's Dive Right In as you can see at the top here new chat gbt and gbt can now run AI actions get started here so I had a few people ask me about hey Josh how do you do this we're going to cover

It right now so zapier has their own documentation if you click on this link which will be linked down below it will take you to the step-by-step guide now I will warn you if you're somewhat of a beginner you're maybe not used to using automations workflow zapier anything like this or chat GPT at all um this may be a bit complex for you um not complex but just a little bit um a little bit difficult right so I'm going to walk

You through it and there's also this uh blog post they have kind of just you know talking about a few things that we're going to cover I'll also leave this in the description below and there's going to be another link and I'll cover that other one in just a second you're going to need that one but first first stuff is pretty easy right get started copy this URL to your clipboard so simply we're just going to copy that now we're going

To go over to a new uh chat session right here here you're going to of course go to your explore and then create a new GPT all right so there's really two ways if you haven't seen if you you don't know how to create a GPT so there is and I did a video the other day on how to create them um there's a few updates I'll I'll give you some you know in here now that I've been playing around for

The last few days but you can either create it here and create or configure usually lately most of the time I've been using configure but um it's actually pretty cool to use it in create as well so what would you like to make make we're going to make an air table uh assistant or expert Okay the reason being is because the zap that we're going to use is the air table one so as you can see it is updating the GPT

And it's going to populate some information about air table expert in the description here all right GPT Behavior updated so an air table expert providing guidance and troubleshooting advice so why don't we call it air table assistant sure let's just say cool okay let's see what we get so now it's updating the GPT there we go and now generating profile picture so it's using di 3 which of course is a lot better than Del 2 and it's uh you know there's

Some crazy stuff I'm going to make be making a lot of new videos on you know D 3 really just all things open AI chat GPT how to use it in your day-to-day life and how to use it in your business how to use it for really any day-to-day task any task at all um so here we got this image so I could either say yeah I like it or no I don't for the sake of this and for the sake

Of time we're just going to say yes would you like to make any changes no that's fine okay and now great please let's define the rule of the a assistant Ty of a table task example should it specialize in formulas and Integrations or uh more General all of that works well all right now it's updating okay it's actually my first time fully going through this front end side of creating a GPT using the chat usually I just go into the configure

Put in the name myself put in the instructions but I think this is a little bit more user friendly and easy especially if you're getting started if you're not too familiar with prompting and writing everything out I'm curious if it's going to generate what the instructions are going to look like updating GPT so great now let's talk about the assistant should avoid are there any specific topics okay so I don't really we don't need to get too much into that this

Is fine enough right for now so um we got the instructions here whatever your instructions are doesn't really matter but actually depending on what actions you want to do okay so this is cool this is just a few side note things so it actually generates the conversational starters for you which actually saves you some time now a few things yes you can upload knowledge knowledge base um you know I would suggest that for your Bots obviously capabilities web browsing Dolly image

Generation code interpreter I usually always just have them all three on because really can't go wrong um and then actions is where we're going to start so actions you're going to paste in that link right here so no you don't click over here you're just going to click right here I know it can be hard to find so and you're just going to click import going to import this schema right here you don't have to worry about this the available actions

Is going to be list available actions and then run actions right so that's all you need to do you can go back here and that is that we're just going to save this I'll just do only me continue all right now comes the fun part um or where it gets a little bit more complicated um so we got that import the schema Etc we'll see a bunch of text okay we're good to go now writing the instructions so when building GPT

With AI actions you need to include instructions long story short what you need to do is there's two things so providing URLs and I'll cover this in just a second um we've provided an natural language URL for you to use in gpts where you can specify specify the action name as well as optionally include specific value details so use actions.com or actions. zapier.com GPT slstart as the base it supports two options every query uh query parameter so you have the setup

Action with the action name and the setup parameter for field instructions so provide certain field values say have uh AI guess or say do not include certain values all right so I'll show you that in a second and as an example the link below is for Google Calendar so it gives you an example of kind of what it looks like start uh question mark and then setup action Google Calendar find event uh and set parameters Etc um instructions for template so

This is really all you need what you're going to do is you're going to copy this right here everything to the required actions the this is really what you're going to have to change um and I'm going to show you how to do that so we go back over to our actual a air table assistant right here we're going to edit and I'm going to configure you're actually going to go to the instructions and you can put this um at the

Bottom so rules before running any actions tell the user you know they need to reply to continue to complete the update so it's you can read through this this is the prompt that zapier created basically step one step two step three step four and then the required actions part so depending on what app you're connecting to and all that good stuff this is where you're going to do the customizing so um let's see here is the wrong one is the right

One all right so here's two examples here I'm going to show you what you can do so this is the third link I'm going to leave in the description it's actions. zapier.com GPT SL actions all right so that is um the this link right here and this is where your they don't even include that in this section right here you can get to it through it but you know this is kind of saves you some time and makes things a lot

Easier um anyways so you're going to you can well I mean if you have an action here that you want to use you can use it let's just say I wanted to create a new action so I would do create new action type action type so for example we're doing air table right here and I have all these different options so air table create record create records with line item support create our update record update record find record all that good

Stuff obviously you can use any sort of thing any sort of app zapier has you know thousands of apps I'm actually going to go back because I already I'm going to delete this because I already created some before um let's just say this one so these are very simple you can actually make longer um actions and whatnot I'm just keeping it very simple for this video um we have our action name so or no this is our action then we have

Our air table account so you can connect your air table account or whatever app you're using then the base well this is air table specific but it's going to give you these are the parameters right here so these type things right here uh some of them also have more options right here so I could select a specific base I'm just going to leave it have ai guess a value for this field and table you could select a specific table or whatever

Parameter you have for the app I'm going to have ai guess it and then lookup field AI guess it so this means I basically have to tell AI what I want where I want it to do and secondary lookup field Etc so um action name you can create the name here or you can just leave it and then there's an option to require preview before for running AI action um I mean I don't really care so we're going to go done

Here now you're going to see this name the name right here so for example air table um this name right here this is the name of my action and what you're basically going to have to do is you are going to have to create something like this so see the URL actions.com for SL uh actions. zapier.com slgp slstart question mark setup action air table a uh air table a create a record and then set up parameters base ID um whatever so

Let me see I think I used some so depending on if you are using setup parameters this would be if you want to specify something like the base ID right here or the name contact field all these things so this is how you can kind of uh put in specific parameters you don't need that though um this would be for specific use cases or really just if you want to be more specific you could also just use tell AI um what

What base or what what what what field so I'm just going to do that for now but if you want to be more specific you can use setup parameters which is basically just putting filling in the parameter and guys if some of this is going over your head and you need kind of a a refresher I'm just going to let you know I'm going to leave a GPT down below as well and you can use this GPT as an assistant to

Help you through this process so what I basically did is I right here I created a GPT called zapier AI assistant a bot to help you integrate zapier custom actions so um this bot is basically programmed with the files that um GPT has on or Z has on their website and it's trained to basically help you along the process I use it to help me with a few things and you can use it for all your different needs when doing this

So basically all all this is for these setup actions it's literally just the name right here but you see it's uh encoded it's just a URL encoded so it has in between instead of a space it's this uh percentage sign and then 20 in between each space it would just be a percentage sign and 20 that's very simple I'm going to show you what um the required actions I made were for example let's go here so these are for all five

Of the ones I had so find so we have the air table required actions find this is the name right here and then action find many records line item uh and then configuration link got that right here so you can see it is setup action air table a find many records with line item support and honestly what I would just say cuz I see actually there is some other additional characters here what what I would just do is go into the

GPT assistant right here so go here and then I would just take one of these like so and I would just say this is my action name like that okay please create the exact required action format needed let's see what we get here I may have to play around with it ex be exact but let's see create the RO so we got this so let's see action name en coding so it's going to do that first so okay so there is

A few different things I was incorrect about it just being the 20 um but it should build it out for us you can see required actions action air table right here confirmation link boom we got that right there replace specific parameters with additional instructions or parameters you wish to include if there's no specific parameters you can emit set parameter part so that's what I mentioned before um write everything after here if you're not using set parameters then just delete this and

You could just tell it hey remove set parameters but it's very simple just delete it if you are using set parameters you can do things like the base ID base URL and if you need help with what set parameters to use ask the zapier AI assistant all right guys so I mean if if this is anything I also want to keep you keep this in mind if you you don't know how to do something like ask AI um that's why I

Created the AI assistant for you so not only am I just giving you this free tutorial showing you how to set everything up also giving you this AI assistant so if you are struggling on some of these points because I know even myself like it just took me a little bit of time it it wasn't that diff I mean it was wasn't really difficult but you just actually have to like kind of follow along and there is a few things that

Are you know that you wouldn't necessarily know right off the bat so like encoding the URL and setting it all up correctly so once you do that you will get like I said you have these right here I'm going to close this and I'm going to update only for me now we'll do some tests right here let me just for an example taking a bit long to load here okay and then while this is loading let me just say guys I'm

Billy Bob show sub C okay let's see what we get here so talking to actions so some info will be sent allow and if this is your first time it may pop up a zapier window and just let uh say allow chat GPT to perform actions and you just click allow so talk to zapier the uh record has been successfully created under the reimbursements tab table of your Strat bace the record details are as follows Etc so all right I'm just

Going to pull up my stri OS base over here just see you know this is actually one thing I've been really working on too it's not complete yet fully so it's not been implemented um but this is something I'll definitely be doing more videos on air table how to use air table because I think it's a great tool and uh we're we've been incorporating this into our business and I've been working on this for the last 2 and 1 half weeks

The ability to create custom actions to zapier zapier has over like 600 th000 apps that you can connect to think about all the possibilities this is just beginning guys it's about to get crazier I'm definitely going to be doing a lot more videos on technical stuff setting up gpts selling gpts on the store what type of gpts you should make how to actually make them let me know if you have want any questions regarding that stuff and also too I I

Computers just came out and there's people that kind of got left behind or there's people that you know they're like oh that thing is just a fat or it's not going to grow this is the biggest thing we've ever seen this is the biggest thing we've ever seen this right here is just a drop in the water with these gpts but these are already so powerful everyone's been having a few days to play around with it over the next few weeks
