NEW: Omni Engineer AI Coding Agent🤖Build Apps w/ AI - Python OpenRouter (Claude & Ollama Engineer)

What's going on everybody Josh pook here and in today's video we're going to be looking at Omni engineer an AI agent power developer console all right this is made by the same Creator as Claude engineer and llama engineer we're going to show you how to set it up install it and show you what you can actually build with it let's Dive Right [Music] In all right guys we're not going to waste any time here um if you're not of CLA engineer

Um we've covered this in other videos show you how to set this up use it it's pretty useful tool um as well as llama engineer which is made by the same Creator down here but um yeah and I will quickly cover the difference between quad engineer and Omni engineer so first off Omni engineer um basically in an intelligence assistant designed to enhance your development workflow it is a console-based tool that integrates AI capabilities into your development process it offers responses to

Coding queries file management web searching so it can do web searching without any apis like search search and or uh Brave API I think it uses duck ducko um and image processing functionality so it does that without API and then Omni engineer is a spiritual successor to CLA engineer it was built from my experience usage of handmade AI tools trials and errors and feedback received compared to Claud engineer the new script allows for more control via Simplicity by leaving some of

The other functionalities like fully automated flow or the ability to run code at the same time bring some new cool stuff like multifile editing and save resume of chats I see this framework as more suitable for people who actually want to code with a better assistant on the side versus something that is fully automatic okay so I mean from what the description says you know and from just how I my experience with it so far I'd probably use this over Claude

Engineer for coding because that's the type of user I am I would actually want to implement stuff and build stuff with these tools right I just don't want an AI to recursively try to self iterate um in a loop because it's just not there right now um so here's the commands but let's more importantly get this installed real quick so you're going to get clone and then this repo right here link to the repo will be in the description down below

And then you're going to see the in the directory so simply put you just go I'm just going to go to my desktop CD develop development CD repos and I actually already have it there but what we're but what you would do of course is just run that command okay and then after that you're going to once you CD so change directory into Omni engineer you're going to pip install dasr requirements.txt I mean you could do this in a virtual environment

Too if you want or you could just say hey I'm just going to do it right um so then yeah once you do that you uh are going to want to rename the env. example Tov so what you could do is you could just either do that in your command line or you could just open it right here um as you can see before the was called example do uh EnV so I just rename that to EnV okay and if you

Open this I'm not going to open it right now just because my API key is there but if you open it it will show open a open router API key and then your key so you would obviously put your key here now if you're not familiar with open router um I'll give you a quick intro to that so it's this tool right here a unified interface for llms pretty useful tool pretty cool tool they do have a fee on top of

You know your usage so if you're using a bunch you know it's you're going to pay a little bit more but it's also really cool because you get one key and you connect can connect to all these different types of models right and so wow and it's actually kind of cool that they show this uh app showcase I didn't know that that's kind of cool like here's claw Dev we talked about that really cool tool um and yeah if there's any

Tools here you guys see you want me to cover I've covered Creator um maybe I'll cover a few of these tools um specifically um so that's kind of cool and you can see this week Etc so anyways you're going to want to sign up get your API key there now also too guys you don't just have to use open router so open router allows you to basically use like almost any uh model you could really think of we got news Hermes

Um we got perplexity llama 3.1 so a bunch of different ones you can see and you can see the provider and then the model there so if we go to here um you could use open model or open router and you would just simply put your environment uh API key there and for the de default model you would want to put whatever model you're using like here like say if you wanted to use Google um Gemini Pro with open router you

Would use this it's it's not just the model name for open router it's the uh provider and then for Slash the model so you could get that just by going to open router and checking what model you want to use um for me just for Simplicity sake I just put gpg 40 um and I'm using what I did was I just changed the base URL right here so I Chang it to api. open.com slv1 but by default it's the open router

Uh base URL you could change this to pretty much anyone you could change this to anthropic you could change this to olama if you want to do locally but I just did open AI for Simplicity sake okay so once you do that it's actually very simple it's just one python file so you're just going to go python main.py then you're going to run that now you could run that in your terminal right here um but I actually R decided to run

It in my vs code terminal and I actually dragged it over here this is how uh the founder had his setup kind of in um in the tutorial video and I think he post posted that on um Twitter so you can uh check that out I think he it's the links are probably within the GitHub if you want to go check that out um but anyways so yeah what just so you know what to do you would just click new terminal

Here usually it pops up down here and then you would just click on Terminal and drag it over here if you want to have it kind of like a pair programmer just like how GitHub co-pilot is or some of my other favorite tools like continue Dev we have claw Dev right here useful tools so here is um omnid Dev right so I'm just doing a very basic prompt just to see what it can actually do but first off I just want

To show you um similar to how um clae uh engineer looks but we can see the commands right here so we got add so these are the commands slad add files to ai's knowledge base edit so edit existing files new create new files search perform a duck Dogo search image add images to ai's knowledge base clear so clear files and and whatnot from the memory so clear from the context uh reset so reset entire chat and file memory and then diff

Toggles diff uh dis display of diffs and then view chat history save chat history to a file load chat history from a file undo last edit for a specific file and then exit the application right so here I just did a very simple prompt create a task manager app in can band form I should be able to add new tasks as well as well as add new canand boards and name them I also should be able to edit the task and

Cbard uh cband board names and delete them too create a nice modern UI using HTML CSS and JS all right so here we go it's actually running so giving basically thinking right here planning it all out plans for the CH uh for the change HTML structure JavaScript functionality example implementation right here of HTML now CSS okay so before you actually do that let me just move my head here so you can see what um what you're going to want to do

If you want it to actually create a file you're going to have to do for Slash new and then put the file name and then it's going to say creating new files so I just called this camb ban. HTML created C ban. HTML with template and now do we want to edit the files let's go yes and then what would you like to change and I'm just going to paste this in okay so here is the can ban task manager as

You can see here we can add a board all this um task or board one okay we can add a task task task this default text is annoying but as you can see here it's functional works pretty well but the button right now overall I think this is a pretty useful tool I think it's um pretty good in terms of you know um comparative to Claude engineer as well as llama engineer I would as of now I'd probably say it's maybe

A bit more useful just CU one you can easily connect with open router uh and use pretty much any llm you want as well as you can connect with other llms just by changing the base URL so there's that um so yeah I think it's pretty useful in those regards as well as it's more uh of a coding assistant than CLA engineer or LL engineer do I think it's the best um personally probably not um I still have my favorites such

As in terms of like CLI ones probably like AER uh and then in terms of like coding Companion ones that are within vs code probably things like continue Dev um even claw Dev is really nice uh as when you don't hit the rate limits and yeah so I mean even cursor is pretty good too so bunch of different ones but this is a pretty good cool tool it's useful you can try it out use it let me know what your thoughts
