NEW Deepseek R1 + Windsurf AI Coding Agent!🤖🛠️ Multi File Function/Tool Calling Cascade IDE

Everyone's been talking about deep seek and it has completely been tiing the AI industry by storm not only are the Deep seek R1 benchmarks very impressive and on par with 01 but you can either use deep seek in their Cloud hosted version of course you're giving your data to China or use this open source model on your Hardware or one of the providers that are hosting it in the US and I've covered many videos on deep seek R1 recently as well

As quen 2.5 Max and China really seems to be taking a big leap forward in terms of the AI r and it seems like every single AI platform or AI coding tool is integrating deep seek into their app right now and one of my personal favorites that just integrated deep seek R1 and deep seek V3 into their AI coding platform is windsurf and we've done videos on wind surf many times on this channel before if you're not familiar with wind surf

It is an AI coding IDE it's pretty much a direct competitor to something like cursor and some people like cursor some people like wind surf I mean there's of course other ones as well but these are kind of the two main ones when it comes to the AI ID space now here's a tweet by wind surf that they just posted a few hours ago saying deep seek R1 and V3 are now available in Winder fully hosted on Western servers we implemented

Tool calling in R1 enabling it to be used in an AI coding agent for the first time now this is crazy because if you've been using R1 in different AI coding tools you'll know that it currently doesn't support tool calling as you can see in the deep sea docks they mentioned not supported features function call Json output and fim so function call and Tool call natively isn't available right now in R1 but codium worked their magic and actually got this working

Within wind surf so without Ado I'm going to show you how you can use deep seek R1 and V3 within wind surf using tool calling a autic capabilities and building some really cool apps in today's video Let's dive right into it so just a brief overview on wind surf it is not an open source platform there is a free plan which you can get some limited features and capabilities I'm currently on the Pro Plan right here there's some other plans right

Here but you're going to need to be at least on this plan to access some of the features I'm to show you and it is $15 a month which is $5 cheaper than cursor which is $20 a month I'm currently getting it for $10 just cuz I was one of the early adopters with wind surf so once you sign up you're simply just going to download it if you don't have it downloaded already now here is the change log all links

I cover in today's video will be linked down below including their Twitter post so you can see new models deep seek R1 and V3 so models Cascade which which is their AI coding agent now has new premium models available previously it only had Claude 3.5 Sonet and GPT 40 but now it has deep seek V3 which takes 0.25 user prompt credits on every message and 0.25 flow action credits on each tool call and then deep seek R1 which takes 0.5 user

React app okay so as you can see it's already done that we're going to accept it right here and next the user mentioned a modern UI a few popular libraries like material UI for components and styling also adding react router for navigation makes sense maybe axios for API calls even though even though the initial setup might not use it yet including chart Library like recharts could also add some visual features so it's literally going through different potential features that a CRM

Could have and these are things that I didn't even mention as you saw my prompt was very basic I'll create a components directory to organize the code the main app.js with rout with handling routing different pages like dashboard context activities all that good stuff so I think you guys get the point I'm not going to read through this all it's even including a readme right here and as you can see it created all these files the appj s navbar dashboard package.json

We created the react app right here now it okay so it's this is really cool because it's just running in the Cascade mode and this is something that we haven't been able to see with like cursor if you're using cursor you can't use R1 within agent mode like it only allows you right here in the composer mode when I'm an agent it only allows you to use Claud sonit 3.5 or gpg 40 I believe it it's limited for running agent you

Also won't be able to use function calls and Tool calling so this is cool that it's going um it's did another prompt right here another thought process that is very long um I'm not going to go through it and then I noticed we need to solve resolve the directory conflict before proceeding so it noticed an error now it's going through that thought process I'll help you create this project manly since we already have the core files let's complete the inst initialization

Process so update the package.json and all the dependencies right here we're going to allow this npm install and now after this is installed we're going to be able to run npm start to start the uh development server all right so now I'm going to go ahead and run mpm start okay so we ran into an error here so it is seeing that and it went through another thinking process and now it is going to try to fix these issues all right

So it took a little bit of troubleshooting but I did get it to actually load now with the modern CRM now I'm going to prompt it to make it a little bit more you know less boring and a little bit more impressive add some of those charts in and whatnot I'm going to say please add stuff to the dashboard contacts activities page so it looks more impressive charts Etc we're going to go ahead and send this and as you can see

It is thinking again going through the user wants to add this and that uh we can get the BART I'm not going to read through all this of course so it wants us to install recharts right here it's making some edits as you can see okay so it is done now it's gone through made a few different edits right here and as you can see now we have our dashboard overview our total contacts active deals T du meetings we have a

Nice little timeline right here we go over to contacts we can see our contacts as you can see and this is with the Deep seek R1 model and I will be honest guys it is 100% not perfect you still will have to do some back and forth some troubleshooting you're going to encounter errors anyway that says any of these models are perfect is really not telling the whole truth because you know you will still have to troubleshoot things and if you

Really want to build a good app at the end of the day or code things correctly you're going to have to know a little bit about what you're doing but deep seek R1 is a huge step for open- Source Ai and AI in general because it is forcing all these other AI competitors to move quickly and adapt and you know at the end of the day it is 80 90% cheaper than open AI 01 so essentially the cost of intell elligence
