What's going on everybody Josh pook here and cursor the world's best AI just released some crazy new features we're going to talk about the prompt Library they officially just launched on GitHub and we're even starting to see some additional AI IDE spawn up now and the competition is gearing up let's dive right into [Music] it all right guys so if you aren't familiar with cursor check out some of my other videos and even if you are familiar with cursor check out

The video down below in the description if you haven't seen it already it's my in-depth stepbystep cursor tutorial I give you a 16-page document as well as different templates and resources to help you get started whether you're beginner intermediate or Advanced now cursor just came out with some crazy new updates so on September 17th they released 0.41 version and this is I'll just read through this right here and then we're going to into the ID and show you some of these

Updates and how you can start using them so cursor tab python Auto Import composer improvements and remote SSH to Mac support So cursor tab now Auto Import symbols and python files we've also significantly improved the cursor tab stability uh composer notepads previously called projects can now include tagged files and be reference in chat as well as composer composer can now be added to the AI pane this release also includes many stability fixes and image support apply and composer are slightly faster

In this release and we've added support for using cursor on Max over remote SSH update 0.411 to 0.1 41.2 improves onboarding ux improves a lot of bugs with composer uh bug composer cancellation and fixes the apply button not working on some code blocks all right there's also a few other ones that we going to dive into right here what they actually released all right guys so I have a little test project open right here this is actually the project I did

In yesterday's video where we built out a Chrome extension you can check that one out too link down below but uh we're just going to go be going over these updates now so if you're familiar with composer if you're like me and our typical composer user because that is one of cursor's main you know features that really makes it stand out so if you click on control um you usually it would just be control I and it would be looking like

This as you can see right here this is the composer and you know it just kind of be like this you could make it bigger like so to open it into the bigger pane um and then you can go to floating composer but now so and to do that by the way and I and if like I said before the video down below I give a resource that literally gives you all the cursor composer um shortcuts um but to open composer

You click control I and if you click control shift I it's going to open up the big one and if you click control D it's going to move the composer over into the chat side so you have chat over here on this is the AI pane side the right the right side panel so we have chat now chat just so you know the difference if you don't know between this and composer it's basically where you can like chat with your agent

Right or your your AI composer is similar like you can chat with it but it's actually going to go ahead and start making those changes editing files multifile editing doing whatever all on its own okay so and they also like they like I said before uh in that update they got some speed improvements and also to uh a little bit of the UI is a bit different so if I just go ahead and do a quick prompt here right so I'm

Just saying a simple prompt just to get the composer working and I don't know if you can see it too clearly right here just because of my theme potentially but this chat right here it's kind of more in like a chat block something that you would see if you're talking to CLA or open AI how it has that little like when you're on your iPhone and you're texting and you see those blue and green blobs it's kind of like that and

This just makes it a little bit easier on the UI the dev experience to actually come and see if you have a very long chat history where your chat may be so I can just click control D to bring it back you know into the middle plane so another important thing is these notepads so if you're not familiar with um projects what well what we're called projects it's essentially like if I go here to create new I can either create a

New composer or a new notepad so if I create a new notepad I can just name this test and this is essentially where you could like provide overarching prompts and information about a specific topic maybe about a about a specific um task or Sprint or whatever that you're doing within your project let's say I'm setting up off or I'm setting up backend connections or whatever the case may be this this instead of being test would be called backend off or whatever

Your user onboarding flow and as you can see here even just typing in here we're already getting these um you know this these references right here which is a lot different this wasn't here before we got stuff like that um you can also go at here and you can reference um Pages d or like files and whatnot directly in the uh notepad so before you would have to add like Focus files over here um but now we can go ahead reference

App.py can go like this background J s and then you could go ahead and build out more of like a in-depth prompt and background about what you're what you're trying to do uh a notepad on or a project on right notepad now right so if you don't know about notepads or projects like I said I suggest checking out my longer form video um about cursor because I literally walk you through and show you exactly how you can structure notepads and the

Workflow for that so I go over the workflow for notepads as well as composer and how you kind of think about things so um but yeah yeah that's a little bit of a longer topic so I would recommend checking out that video and I'll continue doing more videos on notepads and these new updates as well so then within notepads you could create a new composer so actually let's say for example I uh open floating composer and I can either click here

And I'll see my notepad right here but I can also go at and I can see my notepad right here so this is really nice too because you can reference your uh notepad either in the comp poser here or even in the chat here so we got notepad here we got all the other stuff that we had before um but this is just really nice and yeah really useful so let's do another um example right now okay so another thing that's

Very very important and amazing this is like they read my mind because I think I even mentioned this in my some of my cursor videos that it's really when you're uh let's say for example if I just let cursor run wild for a bit or maybe like you know ites changes a few more files or like maybe two or three prompts than I actually uh would like and then I realize after that okay maybe it change some stuff that actually broke

Some of my code or this or that um previously it was a little bit difficult to revert some of those changes you would either have to like um kind of remember what file I mean you could check and see what it changed but then you would have to like control undo and like or either um you know do different methods right but uh and obviously you can commit and this is different ways like in terms of saving all and applying all

Long story short now there's checkpoints so you see how it says checkpoint right here reset all files to this point in conversation let's say I'm making a long conversation with cursor or we have like three four messages and then I want to revert back to the first composer well I can do that in one click and that is complete Game Changer because this just makes our job and our workflow so much easier so I really really like this uh new change

I all in all guys I think these new cursor updates are really really useful and I'm super super excited and amped up to be utilizing them now a few things to note pretty much most people will have access to these updates if you don't um some people have like a update button where they can go down here and it will say update um but if you don't and you you know didn't notice that then what you can do is you can

Click control shift p and you can try typing in update cursor right here and then you'll see cursor attempt update you can try clicking that okay and then it should work worst case too you could also just go to cursor and redownload the um the installer and you should be good to go if for whatever reason that doesn't work I'm sure you'll get the update pushed to you in like a day all right so those are some of the main cursor

Updates let me know what you guys think about these cursor updates do you think they're great are you excited for them as me I know some other tools have been getting updates like Claude Dev um you know different tools like this and we're even going to touch on uh one other tool right now for those of you who saw my video on PA Ai and I'll leave a link down below for that as well I go in depth kind of like

Breaking down different things about you know cursor and you know their how their Fork of vs code and how I mentioned that there's it's probably going to spark a lot of competition in terms of like now I mentioned that tool Pari which is an open source version of vs code there's also a few other ones I'll do videos on very soon but also too recently super Maven you're not familiar with super Maven they're basically like a a very fast GitHub co-pilot

That's pretty good um well they tweeted out on September 16th we've raised 12 million from blah blah blah Partners to build an AI focused text editor that integrates tightly with our models so they have their own models which are really fast and really fine tuned for editing so that's pretty interesting and they go down here mentioning more stuff and you can read this tweet I'll leave the thread down below but um you know it's pretty interesting to I mean at the

End of the day guys in terms of just having an extension like say like GitHub co-pilot I mean they're still a competitor obviously cuz that's vs code they could just incorporate it really heavily into the editor but uh in terms of other just soul-based extensions they really can't compete with an actual IDE because you're very limited opposed from having an IDE that's built with a backbone of AI so this with super Maven is definitely going to make them more of a

Competitor you know raising 12 mil uh and now building this text editor so excited to see what they have in store we also talked about zai on this channel so you can check out some of my videos on that I'll leave some down below we got Z Pari I'm going to do a video on another one too this week so stay tuned for that but let me know what you guys think about all these AI editors all these AI IDE what

One is your favorite who do you think's going to win are you are you betting your money on cursor or do you think someone else is going to win this race R in this competition do you think it's going to be vs code they're just going to come and Crush everyone let me know in the comments down below and also too guys like I mentioned cursor just kind of released their new prompt design um it's called promt so I haven't fully

Dived dove into this yet I'm definitely going to take more of a look at it you know these next few days maybe I'll mention either mention it again and do more in-depth uh coverage on it in future videos or maybe it deserves a full video by itself we'll see depending on how uh how much I use it and how good I think it is but definitely check this out I'm going to leave it linked down below so you guys can play

Around with it too basically this is from the uh company uh NYS spere that made cursor and this is their official promp Library version one they have an article a blog post talking about um you know why they made it and all that that good stuff so you can check it out it's all in the GitHub um but yeah pretty interesting stuff so just wanted to give you guys that extra value ad but anyways guys that's pretty much it for these

Cursor updates as well as just kind of uh you know where we're standing with all these other AI editors like I said we got Pari we got cursor we got um we got Zed we got there's a few other ones like I said I'm going to do some more videos and I'm going to leave them down below linked to the videos I covered on those tools as well so you can check those out too like I said though I really encourage

You guys if you haven't checked out my video a full in-depth guide on cursor I uh really recommend that I think it will really get you guys up to speed whether you're a beginner Advanced or intermediate so that will be the first link down below to the video as well as you get those free dock page dogs as well as a free uh PRD template so definitely extremely extr extremely valuable other than that guys you're new to the channel we upload

Videos every single day on AI automation AI coding business marketing you name it um if you want me to cover a specific topic a specific tool or do something specific for a video let me know in the comments down below I know some of you guys let me know and I have it in the backlog give me some time and we'll get it out there but other than that guys I will see you in tomorrow's video Keep hustling keep grinding and

Of course accelerate your stride take care
