NEW Cofounder AI Coding Agent Beats v0, Cursor, Bolt.new??🤖 Generate Wireframes & Full Stack Apps

What's going on guys Josh pook here and we've covered many different tools on this channel when it comes to AI pair programming we've covered bolt. new we've covered cursor we've covered Klein we've covered par AI AER v.d so many different tools and each one of these tools has its pros and cons bt. new can build complete applications within your browser kle has many cool features it can use computer use from anthropic and actually debug your code for for you and cursor

Is really just an IDE Powerhouse with its composer features able to easily write and edit code in a very efficient way so we've sort of been seeing this Evolution where these tools are really getting good at creating endtoend apps we've seen a lot of success on the front end with tools like vzer which are easily able to create beautiful UI components but we've definitely seen a lack of tools being able to help you implement backend Solutions with a database authentification and

All that good stuff and yes we have seen some tools start to implement different strategies to do so I think the tool that we're going to Showcase today is definitely on the right track now for those of you who've been following this channel for a while you'll know that I love prds when it comes to actually using AI coding tools I've even given you guys product requirement doc templates that you could actually use and start implementing them to really structure and

Outline your project when you're building it and that's really where I personally see what separates a subpar app to a highquality production ready app is the input that you give it the detail descriptions the prompts the prds all that good stuff now this new tool that I found that we're covering today is called co-founder and let me tell you it actually does all that for you the prds the fds the drds database requirement stock feature requirement stock it really does it

All it even creates wireframes will do your database will write your open API for you it is really insane guys this tool is called Co founder it's currently an early Alpha release I'm going to show you how I can set it up for free and start using it right now let's dive right into [Music] it all right guys so this tool is of course 100% open source and I'll leave a link down below to the GitHub so you guys can test

It out and this tool is made by the same creator of the tool open v0 which currently isn't supported anymore but it's essentially an open-source uh alternative to vzer and you'll see that once we actually set up co-founder here there's actually a coming soon section for a VZ like feature so I'm assuming that he's probably just going to integrate the two into co-founder so what is co-founder what does it do full stack Genera of web apps backend plus DB plus stateful

Web apps geni rooted in app architecture with AI guided mockup designer and module design system so this is really cool guys I I'm very excited to show you this it actually blew my mind when I first started generating some apps with this tool all right guys so there's a demo video here if you want to check it out but we're just going to jump right into the install here and you can see an important note right here mentioning that it is

Like I said in Alpha release it's very early and there is a bunch of new features that they plan on integrating he says be patient but let's go ahead and set this up so first things first you're going to want to open your terminal in a specific location I would create a new folder and you're going to want to simply just run npx at open interface SL cofounder that's actually going to get clone the repo into that folder so I would

Set up a specific folder make a directory and then clone all these F uh all this repo running this command into that folder all right once you run this command it's essentially a setup guide for you so it's actually going to ask you for the API Keys it's going to ask you for the open AI API key as well as your anthropic API key the open AI does a lot of the embeddings and then anthropic is doing a lot of the

Writing for the code now it's also going to ask you for an open interface API key so you can actually go to this link right here co-founder doop interface. a and you're going to want to sign up and then you're simply going to it's once you sign up it's actually just going to give you your API key right here you can just copy it and then paste it over into your uh terminal Okay so once you pasted in those API Keys

It should launch the actual dashboard on Local Host 667 now you may encounter a couple issues I encountered one issue with a um package and basically I just had to install the package myself so if you get an issue you can simply copy and paste that over into chat GPT for me this is what I got the issue right here for nodemon and chat GPT basically just told me to run this npm install no mod D- saave DDE and that basically

Fixed everything so if you get that issue you can run that or just copy and paste it and ask chat GPD to help you out now if you got no issues like I said it will set it up on that uh host 667 now if you did get an issue you're going to have to launch the dashboard manually yourself so once you fix that uh that whatever issue it is you're going to want to change directory into co-founder so CD co-founder

In your terminal and then change directory into the API so CD API once you're in the API directory you can run npm run starts so that will manually set up the dashboard on Local Host 667 and this is what the dashboard is going to look like as you can see here we got our projects we got our playground right here so if I click playground we can see we have a component designer which will probably be something like that vzer open

Chat interface like chat GPT you could also use the voice right here which will allow you to speak so you can actually just speak into your mic and describe how you want your app to be like and then the Aesthetics this will of course um let it know how you would like it to look aesthetically whether it's light theme with a blue as primary or you could say dark mode with some gold once you're done that you're simply going to click

On create project all right as you can see here our project has been created we can see the details right here User submitted project details we can see all that good stuff all right so now we're in a node likee interface it's actually react flow and as you can see it is going to work like it just generated a PRD right here so product requirement stock we can click on this and see introduction product overview target audience key features user Persona

Like very in-depth detailed um you know description about the different components and features user profile multi-tenant AI capabilities like this is a long PRD right here then if we go over here we can see an FD a feature requirements doc so we got all the different features we want in this dock next you can see it's generating a ux SMD right here so a ux typ map document and at the same time it's simultaneously generating a drd a database requirements document

Now if you're a little bit curious about how this works under the hood you can definitely check out this uh diagram which is linked in the GitHub repo and you can see here it starts off creating the PRD the FD then the drd database schemas the database SQL commands the BRD so the backend requirements stock and then it creates the open a API stuff right here the back server stuff there's a swarm to review code over here there's the ux SMD

Right here so the sitemap requirement stock and the structure right here and then the ux databas uh data map requirement stock and then this goes down over here into the database or data map structure the data map views the web app react store all that different stuff we can see we can see there's really four layers the product management layer the DB layer and then the server API layer and web app layer so as you can see this thing is just

Going right here it is working really hard it's generating our database schemas for us database postgress right here commands all of our database commands our backend commands based on our requirements dock our features dock you can see our site map structure right here like this is really indepth all right guys so as you can see this is not just a oneoff you know done in 10 5 to 10 seconds you know generation right here this is completely generating everything you would

Really want for an app it's creating our backend requirements document right now so if we click here here is our schema we got our user tables our user preferences conversations messages user sessions all that good stuff we can see our database requirement stock right here so very in depth all right and just as this is going and generating all this uh you know crazy code here um you'll see up here we have a live button a editor button and an export

Components right here and then it's actually generating those components we can see exactly how it is working under the hood here which is really nice and I think this is really like this all guys is super important stuff when it comes to building apps like having you know we've all seen you know how we can easily generate stuff by screenshotting stuff putting it into v0 and just you know getting a nice looking component but really the future of AI coding and

Development is having a defined process you know um this is one thing that I personally got you know I I've given you guys like I said product requirement stock templates and I heard chamal chamath palaa talk about this and basically saying you know the future of AI coding isn't going to be necessarily how good of a coder you are but how defined your PRD is your product requirement stock and quite frankly now we're seeing that you may not even have to

Define this yourself you know you may just have to kind of give a rough idea obviously the more defined the better of what type of app you want to build and then AI is going to pretty much outline all the Sops all the documents that are required and like I said before like he said this is an alpha and this definitely is not perfect I can I personally can see different ways of how this can improve but for the first version

Of this like and me just seeing this this actually really impressed me because this is the the thought process I was thinking of how um you know the future of a coding is uh going so I think this is a really unique and cool feature that I haven't really seen any other app Implement yet all right so let's go ahead and check out this app live here all right so as you can see this is the app it is stride GPT

And click on sign up right here we can see you can go ahead and create an account so you could do a username you can go ahead and create the account and then actually log into the app okay so this is what the inner workings of the app looks like okay we can see our profile up here settings help senders sign out we can see you know the conversation search the you can go to profile here see our profile information delete

Account export data we can go to our history right here load conversation history we can see all that all right and then we can go to chat right here we can see our recent conversations our saved conversations our folders We can do new chat up here over here we can see AI mode we can do General creative analytic uh analytical uh response l you know short medium long chat settings right here there really isn't anything voice input or output you can

Toggle that on and of course you can see here like The Styling that the text is kind of like white on weight so obviously these are things that you can change but I think this is a decent starting point for one and honestly I just think the way it built this app is so damn cool now by the way the way you actually run these generated apps is you're going to want to go into the apps folder right here which will

Be in your co-founder folder that you know it created so go into Apps and you'll see all your different apps right here then of course you could go into your desire app so you would want to CD into that app change directory into your terminal and then you're going to want to run npmi and and and then mpm run Dev now I will say if you are having any issues with you know you know the generated code obviously it did a

Bunch of generating for you you know your entire app open it up in something like you know VSS code or cursor whatever and um you know troubleshoot it maybe ask cursor you know oh I'm encountering this issue or this issue just ask you know AI what's the issue and have it iterate upon it that way because as of now I haven't seen any real you know way to iterate and improve with co-founders so that's one downside now you can see here

In the chat interface if we go ahead and ask it something like create the snake game in Python and click Send and boom you can see it created the snake game and python right here we got our code and we could simply copy this run it Etc we could say tell me a joke right here and you can see it came up with a joke so the user interface is working like I said this is MVP pre MVP I would say

You know you really would want to iterate upon this now at the moment from what I've seen all the apps that it generates are V apps so you'll get a v react front end right here then your back end with all the database stuff so I think in the future it would be cool to have more options such as nextjs remix whatever the case may be so my final thoughts on this app is I think the way it actually builds it

The actual you know thesis upon uh their their AI coding philosophy right here is pretty cool and aligns with what I truly believe is the future of AI you know generating uh the full you know infrastructure and the the the systems and the you know outlining of everything and then generating the app I think that's a really really cool um you know way of doing things I personally won't be using this for like brilling production ready apps opposed to something like
