What's going on everybody in today's video I'm going to show you how you can set up portainer IO to simplify container management across kubernetes and Docker all right this is a gooey for Docker as well as we're going to be setting up engine X proxy manager expose your services easily and securely to the web it's a web- based interface for managing engin proxy host so without Ado let's dive right into it [Music] all right so before we get into it this

Is going to be um a very stepbystep tutorial showing you how to do this as if you're a beginner so um if you're Advanced you may or may not need to watch this whole thing right you may already know how to do this but first off before we get into installing portainer which we're going to do you need to have Docker installed so if you don't already have Docker installed I'm not going to cover that right now now but you can

Literally go to their Docker help docs or you can just ask perplexity your chpt how do I install Docker on your system and then you can install it all right we're going to be doing this on a VPS on a Linux system on a Ubuntu system all right so what you're going to want to do is SSH into your system and then from that point on I actually just installed it but I'm still going to walk you through the pertain side

Of things so what you're going to do um so up here you can see I was just this is a fresh install just for the sake of this video I was installing um Docker right here and then what you're going to do from that point is I ran this command Docker run- TP and then 9,000 8,000 etc etc so um in the portainer install right here I'll leave this in the description down below for their install docs install portainer CE with

Docker on Linux all right so what you're going to do first is create a Docker volume or painer volume with through Docker so you're going to go Docker volume create painer data from that point on you're going to download install portainer on the server um and you're going to run Docker run 8,000 n uh 8,000 8,000 these ports right here new container you're just going to copy this and run it very simple so you literally just run this command after that

Painer server has now been installed you can check whether painer service is running so you can just do Docker PS and should see your pertain container right from that point on if you go to um basically your IP address of your VPS uh and then the port 9443 that is where you will see your pertain all right so it will look basically something like this when you first open it up actually it's going to uh you're going to see this show

You going to well it's actually going to get you to create your admin password and username so you can do that then it's going to look like this you just click get started and then select your host environment like so you would just select your host and then what we're going to do is we're going to install engine uh uh then what we're going to do is we're going to install engine X proxy manager right so there's a couple ways you

Can do this um just for ease of use I'm going to be doing it uh using a custom template using just Docker compose all right don't you could do it other ways other than Docker compose um but we're just going to do it this way and I'll leave the documentation for Eng Genex proxy manager setup down below you'll see here um I'm just using their very basic uh compose uh file doer impose file you could make it more I guess Advanced

And have your own database uh stuff here and um yeah but we're just going to keep it very very basic so if I go here we're just literally I just copy and pasted what they had volumes are let's encrypt and data and then restart and let stopped version 3.8 of Docker image right here their latest image platform Linux uh type Standalone and then I just called it engine X proxy manager for description and for title and yeah you'll see you'll also

Have other options like upload from computer repository from git Etc and then we're just going to create custom template okay I also gave it a little nice uh image here which I just got from the web okay so now I am at the custom template we just created and I'm just going to hit deploy the stack all right so it's going to start deploying you'll see deployment in process all right so just to recap we just simply installed martainer we created

That custom template basically using the exact copy and paste thing um doer compos file that was from n jinx's documents which is link down below and now we're deploying it all right so once this is deployed I'll come right back oh here we go it's actually already deployed so we'll see here now we got a new stack which is en jinkx proxy manager I can go inside of here and we'll see we got a container which is our n Jinx proxy

Manager app okay and now from that point on You're simply just going to go into your IP address the same VPS or whatever IP address and you're going to go to Port 81 now now make sure that you're going to http Port 81 at the moment not https all right once you do that going to ask to log to your account and let's just see from what I remember yep admin example admin example and the password is change me this is

The default engine engine X proxy manager credentials once you actually do that going to ask you to change change this so I'm just going to go over here all right so this is what it will look like when you're actually in your enging proxy manager you'll when you first install it you'll have zero proxy host zero redirection host and zero everything right so let's go ahead and start adding a proxy host so what we're going to do is we're going to

Add a proxy host and let's just say you're going to add any domain here like um let's go portainer but executive I'm just doing this for the sake of this video I'm going to change this after um and let's do so you're going to put Port 81 and you're going to put your IP address right here I'm just going to do that and then go over to SSL real quick so put the IP address right here that you're forwarding to and

Then go to SSL okay now once you're in SSL you're going to request new SSL certificate you can do for SSL um yeah I would suggest that um you can do these other ones as well too um and then you're going to need to agree to Let's encrypt now before you do this you're going to need to be for port forwarding uh ports 80 and 443 to engine X all right so if you're doing this on a server if you're doing

It through a router you'll need to set that up or through your firewall uh before you actually do this or else it's not going to work once you do that we click save and if everything goes correctly it should work boom there we go so now if I go to portainer do executiv strive.com everything works out well it should load oh I pointed it to the wrong Port I actually just pointed it to um engine X so let me point that

To um all right so also for a painer you need to make https so some require https some don't once you do that um we are currently at painer the uh subdomain that I put and we're at the actual painer now was having a few issues before like I said you need to make sure your port forwarding 443 and 880 to uh engine X or you may encounter some issues or if something's already taking those ports you may need to uh

Stop those and then um put those ports for portainer on the host side um okay not just on the container side so um yeah that's pretty much it guys once you do this you are able to one setup Rainer and two setup enginex proxy manager we can do the same thing any for any website right we can do it for our engine X website whatever IP and ports we're using we can now port forward and and uh make those available to

The internet through whatever subdomain you want all right as well as you can manage and deploy different Docker containers and instances and all that good stuff through portainer and yeah so if you got some value from this video um make sure to drop a like drop a subscription if you um want to stay up to date we do videos like this every single day on AI automation setting up self-hosted open source software um growing your business if you're a business owner

Um Marketing sales Etc a bunch of stuff on this channel so we uh yeah if you want to stay up to date and you got some value make sure to smash that subscribe button smash that like button and then also too guys if you're new to this channel you haven't already joined our free stri community check that out Link in the description down below stri community.com and then also too guys um yeah if you have any questions or if you encounter

Any issues let me know in the comments down below and I'll do my best to try to help you as well as too guys if anytime I encounter an issue I have like perplexity and Claude and CH GPT opened on my other screen and this makes things so much easier when you're doing these sort of stuff when you're self-hosting things because you're always inevitably especially when you're new you're going to encounter issues and you're going to encounter things that are sticking

Points that you're going to have to work through okay so that's normal it can be frustrating sometimes um even with simple things right like configuring different networks or this or that right so I completely get it but uh yeah use AI as your friend it's um it's a very powerful tool we have other than that guys I will see you in tomorrow's video keep hustling keep grinding and of course guys accelerate your stride take care
